Position Overview

Backline is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our team and take ownership of building robust, cloud-native services and AI Agents. You'll leverage deep Java ecosystem knowledge to create intelligent remediation systems while building scalable backend services in Python and Go. You'll own features end-to-end - from planning and design through implementation, database design, CI/CD setup, and production deployment.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and build core cloud-native infrastructure using Go and Python for high-scale distributed systems.
• Design system architecture for AI Agent platforms, including LLM integration, workflow orchestration, and real-time processing.
• Solve complex technical challenges with minimal guidance, often defining the problem space yourself.
• Lead cross-team technical initiatives and establish engineering standards across the organization.
• Design APIs, databases, and system integration patterns that scale to meet enterprise-level usage requirements.
• Own technical debt resolution and system performance optimization across the entire stack.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience
• Expert-level proficiency in Go or Python with a deep understanding of performance optimization and best practices.
• Extensive experience designing and implementing cloud-native architectures on AWS (GCP & Azure is a plus).
• Proven experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and container orchestration at scale.
• Strong background in distributed systems, microservices, and API design patterns.
• Hands-on experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases, including performance tuning and schema design.
• Experience with modern AI frameworks and Large Language Model integration.
• Track record of making architectural decisions in high-growth, fast-paced environments.
• Worked in startup environments with rapid iteration and changing requirements
• Clear communication, product mindset, and ability to partner with cross-functional teams in a startup environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field - or equivalent practical experience.
