Job Details

Job Description:

We are a friendly, cheerful, work-hard/play-harder team of software engineers, doing all the non-C/C++ work (with Python as our language of choice) in a group of elite C/C++ software engineers, surrounded by elite hardware architects, and collectively we shape the future of computing, and "simulation" is the name of that game.

CPU simulators play a vital role throughout the entire lifecycle of Intel products. They are used by hardware architects to develop the CPUs of the future, and by software developers to write the software that leverages the capabilities unleashed by those CPUs. There is a number of different simulators and emulators, for functional and performance, architectural and microarchitectural modeling of future computing platforms. The more accurate is the simulation - the slower it gets, to the point where it's impossible to run real-world benchmarks inside that simulation in reasonable time. Solution? Run minimized models of benchmarks (called "traces") on simulated models of CPU, while maintaining accuracy and reliability, and that's where we need your help right now.

One of our projects, written mostly in Python with cutting-edge development practices, is a complex multi-tool, multi-stage, highly-parallelized and orchestrated framework for workload profiling, recording, analysis, tracing and projections used for competitive analysis of CPU performance and taking data-driven architectural decisions. We partner with world-class architects, researchers and engineers to transform increasingly complex workloads that matter today and those we think will matter tomorrow into actionable insights, enabling smarter, faster, more sustainable hardware in a perpetual cycle of self-improvement.

The group's name is BITS, which stands for Binary Instrumentation, Tracing and Simulation.

The tracing framework project's name is Nova and it stands for perfection ;)

Qualifications

  • Advantage: familiarity and/or curiosity about popular benchmarks and how modern SW, OS and HW interact with each other.
  • Super-advantage: practical AI applications for knowledge-based decision-making assistance for humans and software.
