About the Role: We are looking for a seasoned and versatile Tech Lead to join our R&D team. This is a cross-teams leadership role designed for a senior software engineer who thrives on solving hard technical challenges and cares deeply about helping other developers succeed.
The Tech Lead will be responsible for driving architecture, infrastructure, and platform-wide improvements. You will collaborate with multiple engineering teams, lead cross-team initiatives, and shape technical decisions that influence our entire stack. You will report directly to the VP of R&D.
Responsibilities:
- Lead cross-team initiatives and infrastructure projects.
- Design and guide the architecture of scalable, maintainable, and secure systems.
- Work across the stack with hands-on development in both frontend and backend.
- Drive adoption of best practices in code quality, testing, and DevOps.
- Identify bottlenecks and opportunities to improve developer productivity.
- Mentor engineers and influence the technical culture across the organization.
- Collaborate with product, design, and engineering leaders to deliver solutions that serve both merchant and end-user needs.
- Contribute to shaping our technical roadmap and participate in architectural reviews.
Requirements:
- 5-7+ years of experience in software engineering, including significant contributions to production systems.
- Expertise in both frontend (e.g., Angular, React) and backend (e.g., Node.js, NestJS) development.
- Deep knowledge of microservices architecture, databases, messaging queues, and scalable systems.
- Strong system design and architectural skills.
- Experience working in modern CI/CD environments and cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, GCP).
- Passion for improving engineering workflows and team effectiveness.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects from design to deployment.
Nice to Have:
- Experience in a high-growth startup environment.
- Background in e-commerce, SaaS, or dev tools.
- Familiarity with OpenTelemetry, observability tools, and performance profiling.
